Actor Alicia Green Hears A Noise Within
Actor Alicia Green has found her artistic calling through her work at A Noise Within theatre company.
Alicia Green has worked as a teaching artist and arts administrator for over eight years in New York, Denver and Los Angeles. She is a working actor with a passion for bringing the arts into the classroom of every student. Alicia and her husband, Trevor, relocated to Los Angeles from New York City five years ago, where she had 11 years’ experience working as an actor and teaching artist. As a theater teaching artist in schools integrating theater into the History and English standards, Alicia accepted a position working for LA’s BEST as the Arts Coordinator. In this position, she helped to manage the after-school arts programs at 190 Title 1 elementary schools throughout Los Angeles county. Alicia is currently the Director of Education and Community Outreach for A Noise Within theatre in Pasadena, CA. Alicia holds a B.A. in Theatre and Music from Fordham University, and an M.A. in Educational Theatre from New York University.
1. Where are you from?
I grew up in Denver, Colorado before moving to New York at 18 to pursue my acting career.
2. What type of work do you do?
I am an actor, teaching artist and arts administrator.
3. How did you get your start as an actor?
My first “major role” was as Goldilocks in Happily Ever Once Upon, and since I am a tried and true brunette, my audition must have been amazing!
4. Who or what are your major influences?
I am lucky to work at A Noise Within because working with classical texts inspires me. The lessons we learn from works that have been around for hundreds of years because the themes are STILL relevant is just so humbling.

5. What advice would you give a young artist just starting their career?
For any budding actors out there, I would say the best things to do are to get good training, read and pay attention to the life that is happening all around you. Empathy is an incredible tool to have as an actor. It truly allows you to step into the shoes of someone else.
6. What was the moment in your life when you knew that you would pursue a career in the arts?
I knew the minute I first stepped on a stage in 6th grade as the mean villainess in a musical that I was destined to live the rest of my life as an actor. Sometimes you just know. Acting is a very difficult career that is full of rejection and judgment, but for me the end justified the “mean”. I also think that you can’t plan out your life perfectly. I have found such fulfillment in my careers as a teaching artist and arts administrator. If you’d asked me when I was 12 what I would be, I would have said I can only be an actor, but as an artist, there is so much more to do and be.

7. Any tips on how to ace your audition?
Breathe, breathe, breathe. Make sure you have done the work you need going in, never rest on your laurels. Acting, is above all else, work.

Dogs. The love of my life is a Shih Tzu named Garbanzo (Bonzie)
